When your trial is ending
What to expect as your free trial winds down, and how to keep using Scanix.
Your trial runs for 30 days from the moment you start it. We'll keep you informed as the end gets close so nothing surprises you.
The timeline
3 days before — we send a "Your Scanix trial is ending in 3 days" email with a one-click upgrade link. The desktop app keeps working normally.
On the expiry date — we send a final "Your Scanix trial has ended" email. We revoke the trial license; the desktop app stops accepting scans on its next license check (usually within minutes if you're online; up to 30 days if you're fully offline).
After expiry — your account stays open. Your settings, templates, and history are still there. You can:
- Pick a paid plan and reactivate the desktop app
- Keep your account but stop using the desktop app
- Delete your account if you no longer need it
Keep using Scanix
The simplest path is to convert your trial to a paid plan before the expiry date. That way the desktop app never stops working.
- Open the email titled "Your Scanix trial is ending in 3 days" and click Upgrade now, or visit /pricing.
- Pick the tier and billing interval that suits you.
- Complete checkout.
- Your new license takes over from the trial automatically — no need to re-enter a key in the desktop app.
See Convert your trial to a paid plan for the detailed walkthrough.
What happens to my work?
- Scans on your computer stay there. They're saved to local files in whatever folder your desktop app is configured to use. Scanix doesn't upload or store your scan content.
- Templates you created in the desktop app stay on your computer.
- Your Scanix account (email, password, profile, support tickets) stays open until you delete it.
I forgot to upgrade and the desktop app stopped working
That's fine — you haven't lost anything. Pick a plan at /pricing, check out, and the desktop app starts working again on its next license refresh (usually instant when you're online; force a refresh by restarting the app if it's still showing as expired).
Troubleshooting
"I didn't get the 3-day warning email." Check spam. Also confirm you haven't opted out of "License & trial reminders" at /account/email-preferences — that toggle controls these messages. Either way, your trial expiry date is always visible at /account/licenses.
"My trial says it ended but I still have days left." Refresh the page. If your account dashboard and your licenses page disagree, the licenses page is authoritative. Contact support if it's not resolved within an hour.
