Cancel your subscription
How to cancel your Scanix subscription and what happens to your license afterward.
You can cancel any time. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period; we don't pro-rate refunds for early cancellation.
Cancel
- Sign in and go to /account/billing.
- Click Manage subscription.
- In the Stripe Billing Portal, click Cancel subscription.
- Optional: tell Stripe why you're cancelling (helps us improve).
- Confirm.
Your subscription is now scheduled to cancel at the end of the current period. The portal shows the exact end date.
What happens to my license
- Until the end of the current billing period — everything works as normal.
- At the end of the period — your license is revoked. The desktop app stops working at its next license refresh (instant when online, up to 30 days when offline).
- Your account stays open — your settings, support history, and email subscriptions are all preserved. If you sign up for a paid plan again later, your account is right where you left it.
Change your mind
You can reactivate any time before the cancellation date:
- Go to /account/billing → Manage subscription.
- Click Renew subscription.
You'll be billed normally on the next renewal date. No proration needed because you never lost access.
After the cancellation date, your subscription is fully closed. To come back, sign up for a new plan from /pricing — you'll get a fresh license issued to the same account.
Refunds
We don't proactively refund unused subscription time. If you have an unusual situation (accidental renewal, billing error, dissatisfaction within 7 days of a fresh purchase), contact support and we'll work with you case by case.
Cancel and delete the account
Cancellation is separate from account deletion. After cancelling:
- Keep the account → nothing more to do; your settings + support history stay
- Delete the account → see Delete your account (do this after the cancellation takes effect, so you don't end up paying for time you can't use)
Troubleshooting
"Cancel subscription button is missing." You're already on the cancellation schedule. Look for a banner saying "Subscription ends on <date>" — that confirms the cancellation is set.
"My desktop app stopped working before the end date." Restart the app to force a license refresh. If it still says "no valid license" before the cancellation end date, contact support — we may have a license-revocation timing bug to fix on our end.
"I want to cancel but keep using the desktop app for the time I've already paid for." That's exactly what cancellation does — your license stays valid until the end of the current period. Just cancel; nothing else needed.
